MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS
July 25, 2011

Motion was made by James Dillon and seconded by Beverly Potvin Kenniston. It was voted to approve the minutes of June 20, 2011.
2. Supplemental Tax Bills
Supplemental Tax Bills on New Construction will be done during the month of August. New construction will be inspected and values will be generated before the next meeting.
- Telecommunications and Personal Property Valuations
New Fiscal Year 2012 personal property values have been generated for the telecommunication companies. True Forms of lists have been reviewed. New personal property accounts have been visited and their personal property has been listed and assessed.
Rosemary Johnson, Asst. Assessor/Data Collector will attend the Massachusetts Assessors’ School at the University of Massachusetts from August 8 to August 12 and will take the Income Approach to Value. Beverly Kenniston, Principal Assessor, will look into taking the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) in order to retain certification. This course is not being offered at the Massachusetts Assessors’ School this year, but is offered by the Appraisal Institute and MBREA.
The Board of Selectmen will seek to increase the amount granted to seniors under Chapter 41C Exemptions from $500 to $1,000. Increasing the exemption amount will require vote of Town Meeting.
FY2012 Preliminary Tax Bills were mailed on June 30, 2011. First quarter tax payments are due on Monday, August 1, 2011.
