1. Acceptance of Minutes
Motion by James Dillon, seconded by Beverly Potvin Kenniston. It was voted to approve the minutes of June 30, 2008.
2. Miscellaneous Items
Miscellaneous Discussion Items
The assessors discussed evening town office hours. Effective July 14, 2008 town offices are open until 7 p.m. every Tuesday. By extending office hours on Tuesday, the goal is to provide more convenience for residents and businesses to access town services.
Rosemary Johnson, Asst. Assessor/Data Collector will attend the Massachusetts Assessors’ School at the University of Massachusetts from August 4 to August 8. Beverly Kenniston, Principal Assessor, will attend the specialty course Introduction to Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) on August 7th as required in order to maintain the MAA designation for assessors.
The assessors discussed the highlights of the master plan for Holden as accepted by the Planning Board.
Supplemental Tax on New Construction was discussed. Beverly has prepared these bills for occupancy permits issued between January 1 and June 30, 2008. They will be mailed on August 8, 2008 and due on September 8, 2008. They total $18,321.85. This amount is down slightly from last year because new construction is down.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 4:30 P.M. in the Starbard Building.
