1.  Presentation- SJRWMD- Request for Construction of an Aquifer Recharge Well System at Little Orange Creek Nature Park
Mr. Dale Jenkins and Mr. Jim Troiano gave a presentation for construction of an aquifer well at the LOCNP.

2.  SJRWMD- Little Orange Creek Nature Park
Moved to direct Staff and the City Attorney to facilitate the necessary documents for the City Commission to execute for the water recharge wells at LOCNP.

Community Development Block Grant- Mr. Fred Fox
1.  A Presentation of the Information Included in the Application.
Ms. Melissa Fox gave a brief presentation on the CDBG and the information included in the application.  She also explained the proposed application construction of several new and/or improved amenities in the Hawthorne Athletic Park.

2.  Open the Public Hearing to receive comment on the information included in the application.
Mayor Surrency opened the Public Hearing and asked if anyone had any comments or questions regarding the grant application.  No comments.

3.  Close the Public Hearing.
Mayor Surrency closed the Public Hearing.

4.  Consideration of Resolution Authorizing Submission of the Application.

I.  DISCUSSION ITEMS
1.  Fireworks- City Manager Vause (With Comments from Alachua County Fire Marshall Mr. John Adler)
Fire Marshall Mr. John Adler spoke on the process and importance of doing an Ordinance outlining the rules and regulations of fireworks.  He announced that he was in the process of writing an authorization of fireworks display for the county.  He stated the city could opt in to use the county regulations but should still have our own Ordinance.
No action taken.  Discussion only.

J.  CITIZEN COMMENTS
Mr. Gilbert Randall- Received several calls about the water bills this month.  Want to know why they increased.  City Manager stated the bills was read late due to all the rain around the time the meters was supposed to be read.  Staff had to come in over the weekend to get the bills out before the 1st of August.
Mr. Larry Tilbury asked how the sewer increases per 1,000 gallons.  City Manager Vause stated they increase about $6.00.

Mayor Surrency- School starts Monday.  Should have school grade on Wednesday.  We are still anticipating a “B”.  Shell got a “C” so they will be in school an extra hour.  Still need supplies at the schools.  Stop by the schools and see how you can volunteer to help.  Volunteer forms are online.  Prisoners cleaning CR 2082.  CSX doing training on the railroad tracks.  Senator Nelson making a visit to Hawthorne.  Will notify of exact day and time.
