C. ~RECOGNITIONS & GUESTS- Mayor Surrency thanked everyone for coming out tonight to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the opening of the new city hall.

1.  Proclamation- Municipal Clerks Week- Mayor Surrency and the City Commissioners recognized City Clerk McGruder on 17 ½ years of service to the City of Hawthorne.

3.  New City Hall Open House
City Manager Vause- The city would like to recognize the following organizations for sponsoring the new city hall dedication and open house: Hawthorne Area Chamber of Commerce, Hawthorne Woman’s Club and Mz. Tonya’s Unlimited Décor.

4.  Volunteers Appreciations
Moved to recognize all volunteers for both parks as citizens of the month and have a volunteer appreciation day at LOCNP.

5.  Hawthorne Community Center Use & Fees
The City Commission agreed May 17 @ 5:30PM for a community center visioning workshop.  The City Commission also suggested reaching out to other communities to see how they use their community center and the fees they charge.  No motion needed.

6.  Location of AED Defibrillator
The City Commission agreed the Wellness Center is the best location for the AED.  No motion needed.

7.  FRDAP Grant Completion LOCNP
City Manager Vause- The FRDAP grant for the LOCNP Phase 1 has been completed and submitted to the FDEP for reimbursement.  With the combination of contractors and volunteers several elements were constructed and/or renovated.
No action needed.  Informational purpose only.

8.  FRDAP Grant Completion HAP
City Manager Vause- The FRDAP grant for the Hawthorne Athletic Park Phase 2 has been completed and submitted to the FDEP for reimbursement.  With the combination of contractors and volunteers several elements were constructed and/or renovated.
No action needed.  Informational purpose only.

J. ~REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
1. City Manager Vause- Did not prepare a report because she was busy preparing for the open house.

Commissioner Floyd- Congratulations to Commissioner Roberts & Commissioner Bouie and City Clerk McGruder.
Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham- Thank you to the citizens for being unopposed.  That means a lot.  It means we are doing something right.  Please pray for our school.  Super seniors picnic @ LOCNP tomorrow from 11AM-1PM.
Commissioner Bouie- Thank you to the citizens for being unopposed again and thank you to God.  Appreciate all the hard work from the City Manager because she is really moving the city forward.  Thank you to the City Clerk for all your hard work as well.
Vice Mayor Howard- Dido to everything that has been said.  Congratulations to Commissioner Roberts & Commissioner Bouie & City Clerk McGruder.  You all are very deserving of the recognition.
4. Mayor Surrency- Congratulations to Commissioner Roberts & Commissioner Bouie & City Clerk McGruder.  Thank you to City Clerk McGruder for shopping surplus and finding us this $10 podium and The City Manager for finding other great furniture for the New City Hall.  Assessments @ school are showing we are headed in the right direction.  Meeting with Alachua County Sheriff Department to see about them using City Hall as a location to meet with citizens.  Farm Share May 19.  May 12 is Mother’s Day Appreciation in the Lindsey Phillips Park.
