1. Fair Housing Workshop
Mr. Fred Fox- To meet the requirements of the CDBG process the City must hold a Fair Housing Workshop. The City’s Fair Housing Ordinance and other fair housing initiative was explained by Mr. Fox.

Community Development Block Grant First Public Hearing
1. Open Small Cities CDBG- Mayor Surrency
2. Presentation on small cities CDBG Program
Mr. Fox presented the different categories the city can apply under for the CDBG. They are as following: Housing Rehabilitation, Commercial Revitalization, Neighborhood Revitalization and Economic Development.
Mr. Fox stated the available amount of funding is $650K. The application cycle according to Mr. Fox is: Submit the application by July 2018. Construction should begin in late 2019. The contractor has 15 months to complete the job, but can apply for an extension.

6. Staff presents project recommendation
City Manager Vause gave staff recommendations to apply under the Neighborhood Revitalization. Staff is recommending the Hawthorne Athletic Park expansion to include additional outdoor bathrooms, soccer fields, sidewalks, tennis courts, basketball courts and other elements located on the Wellness Center Property in the CDBG application.
7. CATF recommendation on project
Mr. Ray Daniel (SE 69th Avenue Hawthorne, Florida) stated the CATF Board started off recommending the Housing Rehabilitation or Neighborhood Revitalization. After hearing staff recommendation they decided to accept staff recommendations to proceed with the Neighborhood Revitalization.
8. Commission Discussion
The City Commission had a general discussion on possible projects and community needs.
9. Commission direction to staff
Moved to direct staff, the City Engineer and the Grant Writer to develop an application for the Neighborhood Revitalization through the CDBG for the Hawthorne Athletic Park.

4. P&Z Board Members
City Manager Vause announce staff is seeking input from the City Commission on possible new members to sit on the P&Z Board.
No action taken. Discussion only.
5. Property at 6750 & 6720 update
City Manager Vause stated she was bringing back an update as requested by the City Commission on the property across the street located at 6750 SE 221 Street. The listed price is $189,900.00. The owner is currently behind 2 years on taxes. Suggest waiting to see what happens with the taxes. The City Commission agreed.
6. Lift Station #1 Pump Replacement
Moved to authorize the City Manager to purchase a new pump and go with the lowest and best vendor.

1. City Manager Vause- No report but want to inform the Commission that she interview an athletic trainer who will do our Silver Sneakers program. Should begin accepting Silver Sneakers in April 2018.

4. Mayor Surrency- April 13 Open House & chicken dinners for the Hawthorne FFA 5-7pm. School testing for part 1 is completed. Part 2 should begin in April.
