1. Citizen of the Month Nomination
Moved to nominate Mr. Sam Sexton as Citizen of the Month for March 2018. Mr. Sexton has been volunteering his time to remove old items dumped in Ashley Oaks to help keep the area clean.

2.  Joint County/City Commission Meeting
The City Commission agreed unanimously on May 15, 2018 at 6:30PM for the Joint Meeting.  City Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham said the day was good, but she may be out of the state to a graduation.

3.  Keep America Beautiful / Great American Clean up
No action was taken.  The City Commission will discuss this item at an upcoming meeting.

4.  Code Red
Moved to direct staff to contract with ONSOLVE and have the City Attorney to insure it’s the best deal for the City.

8.  Alachua County Local Option Fuel Tax Revenue Allocations
Brief discussion between the City Commission and Staff on the Fuel Tax revenues and how the County is trying to allocate the money.  The City Commission directed the City Manager to draft a letter from the City Commission for the Mayor to sign that says, “We accept the Interlocal Agreement as is and for it to be transmitted to the state as is, but we would support continued efforts after the Interlocal Agreement has been adopted to look at the formula that it was and how it can be adjusted for a more equitable split in the future.  But we are not supporting any changes to the split at this time.”

9.  Alachua County School Board (SPAC) School Planning Advisory Committee
Vice Mayor Howard serves on this board to represent the City Commissioners of Hawthorne.  They now need a staff member to serve as well.  City Manager Vause volunteered to serve.

10. Outdoor Restrooms LOCNP

Moved to approve All Florida Contractors, LLC fee for $26,840 for the LOCNP Outdoor Restrooms.

H.  DISCUSSION ITEMS
City Manager Vause asked for permission from the City Commission to put together Group Rates and Bartering for gym membership at the Wellness Center.  The City Commission agreed as long as the bartering is for stuff the city could use and it’s of equal value.  Also when an agreement is made to bring it back to the City Commission so they will know what is happening.

I.  CITIZEN COMMENTS
Mr. Larry Tilbury spoke on trash on right of way on SE 61st Avenue.
Mr. Wallace Russell invited everyone out to the Community Church in the park this coming Sunday.  Please bring a chair. ~

J. ~REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
1. City Manager Vause gave her City Manager report.
2. City Attorney Hoehn- No report
3. City Commission
Commissioner Floyd stated Waste Pro is still leaving the trash cans in the middle of the street.
Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham ask about the upcoming usage for the old Badcock building and the old Theatre building.  Mayor Surrency stated Mr. Cantley is trying to find someone to open a business in his buildings.
Commissioner Bouie- No report
Vice Mayor Howard announced he was having a Black History program at his church in Melrose this coming Sunday at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church and everyone is invited.
4. Mayor Surrency- Went to Tallahassee and met with our Senator and Representative.  Ask the City Commission for their permission to allow him/staff to send a letter to Alachua County to support Mental Health Counseling.
