B. WELCOME:
Alachua County Commission Chair Ken Cornell and Mayor Surrency welcomed everyone out to the City of Hawthorne for the County/City Joint Commission Meeting.
C. INTRODUCTION: Alachua County Commission Chair Ken Cornell introduced their Commissioners and Staff that was present for the Joint Meeting and thanked the City of Hawthorne for allowing the County Commissioners to come and discuss important issues and answer questions.

E. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
1. Fire Assessment Study
Fire Chief Bill Northcut gave a presentation on the Fire Assessment Study two options they are considering. Option 1. The County will develop the Non-Ad Valorem Assessment to fund Fire Protection Services to be collected through non-ad valorem assessments on the property tax bill for FY 2017-2018. Option 2. The County will not develop the Non-Ad Valorem Assessment to fund Fire Protection Services.
Mr. Eric Van Malssen, Consulting Manager from Stantek, gave a broad overview of the fire assessment and the results of the study.
City Manager Vause stated if the Non-Ad Valorem Assessment is adopted it will put the City of Hawthorne over the 10 millage cap and we will not be able to afford the Sheriff MSTU.
2. Gas Tax Update
Alachua County Commission Chair Ken Cornell stated the City of Gainesville is recommending a 45/45/10 with Alachua County for Gas Taxes. The City of Hawthorne gets about $20K in gas tax revenue per FY. Out of 11% the City gets 1%. If the 45/45/10 is approved the City of Hawthorne will get about ¼ of 1% which is a substantial decrease in revenue.
F. CLOSING COMMENTS:
Ms. Cindy Terrell- asked about the methodology of the structure value, MSBU and the ISO rating.
