D. ~COMMITTEE REPORTS/PRESENTATIONS/PROCLAMATIONS
1. Presentation- Florida Department of Environmental Protection
Mr. Matt Mitchell, Assistant Director of Florida Park Services presented a $250K check to the City of Hawthorne to help with improvements for accessibility to walkways and playground equipment. $125K will towards Lindsey Phillips Park and $125K will go toward Hawthorne Athletic Park.
E. ~CITIZEN COMMENTS
Ms. Dorcia Storey and Ms. Elizabeth Kays spoke on the speeding problem on SE 219th Terrace and asked city staff to put a no speeding children at play sign.
Ms. Cindy Tyrrell asked about the cemetery lots and the future upkeep of the cemetery.
Ms. Marian Rucker stated the Thursday yard waste is not being picked up on the scheduled days.

2. Resolution- Interlocal Agreement University of Florida
Dr. Jerry Murphy and Dr. Christopher Silver spoke briefly about the Florida Resilient Communities Initiative Program (FRCI) and explained how the City of Hawthorne could benefit from it.

Moved to approve the Mayor and City Manager to execute the Interlocal Agreement with the University of Florida FRCI program

6. Charter Review Committee
The City Commission agreed to bring back a name of the person they want to nominate to serve of the Charter Review Committee at the next meeting.
7. Resolution- Ameris Bank Building

Moved to authorize the Mayor to execute the Purchase and Sale Agreement with Ameris Bank for $285K.

Discussion- the City Commission along with a few citizens had a brief discussion about the new location of City Hall.

4. Mayor Surrency- Miranda 5K run is this Saturday. It’s a fund raiser to help raise money for this young lady that was involved in a car accident and is now paralyzed. HYS softball and baseball is kicking off. Legislative session started today and will go for 60 days.
