1. Proclamation- Hawthorne Homecoming Days
Mayor Surrency read the Proclamation recognizing the last Thursday through Saturday in June to be designated for the City of Hawthorne Homecoming Annual Event.
2. Presentation- Citizen of the Month (Hawthorne Homecoming Committee)
Mayor Surrency and the City Commission recognized and thanked the Hawthorne Homecoming Committee for a great job organizing the annual event.

1. Reverend Kevin Thorpe- Is running for Alachua County Commissioner for District 4 and he is visiting all the local cities to speak with citizens to see how he can help their city and community.

2. FY 2013-2014 Budget Proposal
City Manager Vause summarized the City Charter budget procedure informing the City Commission when the budget must be submitted.
3. Setting dates for tentative & final budget hearings
City Manager Vause recommended the dates for the millage and budget hearing for Wednesday September 4, 2013. The final hearing for the adoption of millage and budget would be Monday, September 23, 2013.
Moved to approve the September 2013 meeting dates recommended by staff.

4. Resolution- Electronic Submission of DR420, DR420TIF, DR420MMP
City Manager Vause- Staff is asking for permission to execute the electronic transmission of the Certificate of Taxable Value for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 to Alachua County Property Appraiser.
Moved to authorize the City Manager to transmit the DR420, DR420TIF, and DR420MMP form to the Department of Revenue and Alachua County Property Appraiser.
City Attorney Harris-Hoehn read the Resolution by title only.

City Manager Vause- Three bids have been received for the records storage room and the lowest bid was Worley Construction at $12,900.
Moved to approve the lowest bid for Worley Construction to do the job for no more than $12,900.

H. DISCUSSION
1. Take Stock in Children
City Manager Vause- Mr. Stephen Griffin who works for Alachua County Education Foundation is seeking mentors for new students accepted in the program from Hawthorne High School. If anyone would like to volunteer please come to City Hall for the contact information.
I. CITIZEN COMMENTS
1. Ms. Camille Carroll- A lot of traffic travels on SE 65th Avenue and the street is not wide enough and you have kids walking to school and buses travel that street because it’s easy access to both schools. Tragic is waiting to happen.
Mayor Surrency asked the City Manager to contact the School Board to see about re-routing the bus route because it is a busy street.

A. Commissioner Roberts- Thanks to the Hawthorne Homecoming Committee you did a great job. Enjoyed her vacation and her Granddaughter graduated from University of Washington medical school.

4. Mayor Surrency- Alachua County League of Cities meeting in High Springs at the old Elementary School on July 23, 2013 at 7PM. Thank you to the Homecoming Committee as well you did a great job.
