Discussions and Actions
l Fin Comm Chair opened meeting soliciting public commentary. Willie Wickman expressed concern over the process used to close the deficit in the Town omnibus budget. The School Committee was asked to cover a deficit before the Selectman’s budget was voted. When the Board of Selectmen voted their budget (Tues March 10) it was about $70,000 higher than proposed the previous week. So it appears the School had to cover other departments’ increases. It would have been nice to know, as a member of the School Committee, what was going on. The process leaves her concerned.
l Minutes of March 4 accepted.
l Library operations analysis presented by Fin Comm member. “A Review of the Harvard Public Library” accepted by Fin Comm as a public document.
l Review of Recap and Omnibus budget roll-up. Fin Comm members decided not to vote the budget, but to review it and vote on Saturday March 14.
l FinComm Chair noted “the book” must be completed (drafted, reviewed, compiled, etc) and ready for final proofreading by March 28.
l Fin Comm decided on date for Budget Forum for Town: April 16, 7:00 pm.
l Move to adjourn at 9:18 PM.
