Water Commission Minutes 7-6-11
BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS MEETING JULY 6, 2011

Members Present:  Mr. Joseph Duffy, Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter, Mr. Douglas Ficks, Mr. Bruce Young, and Mr. Michael Chernicki.

Also Present:  Mr. Neal Merritt, Water Supt.

Meeting Opened at 5:05 P.M.

SUBJECT:  Supt. Report-Consumer Confidence Report has been mailed out and put on the website.

Reviewed Hanson Water Dept. budget report to date through June 30th.  We ended up $19,000 to the good.  

Dechlorination project was updated by the Supt.

SUBJECT:  Mr. Donald Ellis was in to inquire about the status of the Pleasant Street wellsite.  

Also discussed the Brockton Power plant issue and also voted the request of the Water Department’s portion of tax bill#2914 for Lot 51-8 to be abated in the amount of $189.06 (Scott Peterson Property).  Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to abate the tax bill as presented.  Seconded by Mike Chernicki.  Voted 5-0.

Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to approve the abatement on 53 Milford Street Acct.#565 in the amount of $205.50.  Seconded by Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter. 5-0 in favor.  ( House vacant and should of only been billed the $75.00 min. bill each billing cycle.)

Reviewed minutes of June 22, 2011.  Motion by Mr. Doug Ficks to approve the minutes of June 22, 2011; seconded by Mr. Mike Duffy.  Voted 5-0 in favor.  

SUBJECT:  The residents of Woodbine Avenue were present to discuss possible betterment to extend the current water main to Woodbine Avenue Extension.  Present were Daniel Winter, Linda Condito, Richard Edgehill, and Bryan Durgin.  (also Selectmen Rich Flynn).  This would cover residents from #387 to #425 Woodbine Ext. who have private wells.  The discussion insued regarding how the Town accepts the concept of Assessments under Mass General Laws and how this particular project can be submitted and approved by Town Meeting.

Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to enter into Executive Session at 6:30 P.M. under #3 to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the government’s bargaining or litigating postion.  Roll call vote:  Mr. Ficks, aye; Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter, aye; Mr. Mike Duffy, aye; Mr. Mike Chernicki, aye; and Mr. Bruce Young; aye.  5-0 in favor.


Back in public session at 7:16 P.M.

Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to adjourn the meeting at 7:17 P.M. seconded by Mr. Mike Duffy.  Voted 5-0 in favor.
