BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS MAY 26, 2010
Members Present: Mr. Joseph Duffy, Mr. Bruce Young, Mrs. Phyllis Bickford, Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter, Mr. Douglas Ficks.
Also Present: Mr. Neal Merritt, Water Supt.
Meeting opened at 5:05 P.M.
SUBJECT: Chemical Feed Upgrade- 3 quotes were received but this should have gone out to bid.
Motion by Mr. Bruce Young, to reject the low bid due to the cost which was well above the estimate; and go out to bid again and advertise in the Central Register. Seconded by Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter. Voted 5-0 in favor.
Motion by Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter to award the bid for Sodium Hydroxide (25% liquid) to Borden & Remington Corp. at a unit price of $0.5829/gallon. Seconded by Mr. Bruce Young. Voted 5-0 in favor.
Neal will handle the April request from the Plymouth County fire & Rescue Training Assoc. for training on Water Dept. property by communicating directly with the Hanson Fire Chief.
The Board discussed proposed water main quotes and location of work.
Discussed progress of clean up of junk car storage within Zone II.
Reviewed the top 10 changes in the new open meeting law to be administered by the Attorney General.
Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to enter into Executive Session at 7:00 P.M. under #3 to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the government’s bargaining or litigating position. Seconded by Mr. Mike Duffy. Roll call vote: Mrs. Bickford, aye; Mr. Ficks, aye; Mrs. Sutter, aye; Mr. Young, aye; Mr. Duffy, aye.

Motion by Mrs. Mary Lou Sutter to accept the minutes of April 28, 2010 Regular Session; May 10, 2010 Regular & Executive Session; May 12, 2010 Regular and Executive Session. Seconded by Mr. Mike Duffy. Executive Session minutes to remain confidential. Voted 5-0 in favor.
Motion by Mr. Bruce Young to adjourn at 7:40 P.M. Seconded by Mr. Mike Duffy. All in favor. 5-0.
