Selectmen’s Meeting ~
June 17, 2008

Present: ~Donald Howard, Stephen Amico, James Egan, Christopher Colcough and James Armstrong. ~Also present Town Administrator Michael Finglas and Meredith Marini, Executive Assistant. ~~

7:32 p.m.~~~~~~~Chairman Egan called the meeting to order, lead the Pledge Allegiance and read the announcements and upcoming meeting schedule.


Item I          Town Administrator’s Report  - Mr. Finglas reported that for period ending June 5, 2008 he signed Payroll Warrant 49 in the amount of $149,836.48, Expense 49 - $31,548.66; Expense 49A - $34,538.62.  For period ending June 12, 2008 he signed Payroll Warrant 50 in the amount of $122,791.40; Expense 50 - $239,720 and Expense 50A - $24,410.04.

July 4th Closings ~ Mr. Finglas reported that all Town Offices would be closed on Friday,           July 4th.  Town Hall will be closing at Noon on Thursday, July 3rd.

Request from Chief Thompson to increase Ambulance Fees – Mr. Finglas informed the Board that the Fire Chief has submitted a request to increase Ambulance Fees in order to cover the costs supplies and equipment.  The Chief requested to following increases:

·       BLS Transport, Base Rate from $300 to $450
·       ALS Transport, Base Rate One from $450 to $575
·       ALS Transport, Base Rate Two from $550 to $750

MOTION by Armstrong, second by Colclough to approve the changes as requested. Voted 5 – 0.
                        
Item II Annual Appointments – The Board reviewed the annual appointment list and the Board members selected various committee assignments. Mr. Howard was selected to serve on the Drainage Committee and as the Plymouth County Advisory Board Alternate and Mr. Amico offered to serve on the Master Plan Committee and the Street Safety Committee. After brief discussion, the Board decided to dissolve the Betterment Committee.

MOTION by Colclough, second by Armstrong to dissolve the Betterment Committee.
Voted 5 – 0.

MOTION by Amico, second by Howard to approve reappointments as amended.  Vote 5 – 0.


Historical Commission -

Item III        Set Meeting Dates -     July, August, September & October

Mrs. Marini recommended for the following meeting dates:  July 8 & 22; August 19;    September 9, 16 & 30 and October 6, 7 & 21.  Mrs. Marini pointed out that the October Special Town Meeting Warrant must be posted by September 19th and the October Town Meeting is Monday, October 6th.  By consensus the Board approved the meeting dates.

Item IV One Day Liquor Licenses – Camp Kiwanee
Cindy Young, Dorchester – Sat., July 5th from 5 – 10 p.m. for a wedding
Talon Bergen, Hyde Park – Friday, July 11th from 5 – 10 p.m. for a wedding
Colleen McCarthy, Weymouth – Sunday, July 13th from12 – 5 p.m. for a christening

MOTION by Armstrong, second by Colclough to approve the One Day Liquor Licenses as printed.  Voted 5 – 0.


Item V          Committee ReportsEmergency Planning Committee – Mr. Armstrong reported that the Committee is researching “Cooling Centers” for residents to go during extreme heat days.
