Announcements
The Hanson Water Department has lifted the Water Restrictions effective Sept. 18th. Outside watering may resume at consumer’s discretion. The Water Dept. appreciates your cooperation in conserving water.
The Highway Department announced road paving of Fairwood Drive and the Brentwood area. The roads will be open to traffic, but please expect delays. If you have any questions, please contact the Highway Department at 781-293-2822.
The Hanson Water Department will begin hydrant flushing on or about September 21, 2015.~ Work will be scheduled Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and midnight.~ Hydrant flushing is done to remove iron and manganese deposits that collect on the walls of the water mains.~ Residents may experience air bubbles or water discoloration, which is not harmful. It is recommended you run cold water in a bathtub for a few minutes until the water and/or air bubbles clear up. If the water does not clear up within about 5 minutes, please contact the Hanson Water Department 781-447-1200.~ ~ ~~
Whitman & Hanson Dollars for Scholars kicks off their fundraising season with a an Electronic Recycling Day at the Maquan School in Hanson on Saturday, September 26, from 9AM to 1PM. Residents and non-residents can dispose of their unwanted electrical items which they may not be able to do away with by conventional trash methods. A fee will be assessed which will support DFS’ scholarship awards program. Those unable to attend may call ahead for special arrangements. The Treasurer/Collector’s Office will be closed on Friday, September 25th, October 2nd and October 9th. Please plan your business accordingly.
On Saturday September 26th from 10 am to 2 pm the Hanson Police, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, will be accepting unwanted/unneeded prescription medication.~ The unwanted medications will be safely disposed of by the DEA.~ We can not accept liquid medications.~ Also, no sharps (needles) will be accepted.~ The Hanson Police do have a drop off box in the lobby and we accept medications 24 hours a day 7 days a week.~ We are taking part in the DEA's National Take Back Day to highlight this service and to keep unwanted medications out of the wrong hands.~

Reminder from the Town Clerk ~ Avoid at $25.00 late fee, license your dog by September 30th.
October Special Town Meeting is Monday, October 5th at 7:30 p.m. at the Hanson Middle School. A quorum of 100 registered voters is required.
Absentee ballots are available in Town Clerk’s Office for the October 6th Special State Primary. Application for the absentee ballots will be accepted by the Town Clerk until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5th. For more information call the Town Clerk at 781-293-2772
Hanson Food Pantry is seeking auction items for the Pack the Pantry Auction to be held on Friday, October 9th at Meadowbrook Restaurant. They are accepting collectibles,~home decor, household items, furniture in new or nearly new condition.
