Thursday, September 08, 2011 – 6:30 pm
Present: Chairman, Aaron Kullgren; Selectwoman, Karen Day.
Absent: Selectman, Robert Wimpory
Minutes: Interim Administrative Assistant, Christopher Rose taking minutes.
Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Chairman Kullgren.
Recycling Center Equipment
Day noted what she felt was the problem with the Bobcat Skid-Steer Loader that the town had purchased for the recycling center. She noted that she had spoken with the company and they were willing to upgrade the one the town had to a larger one. There was a discussion on where the additional funds would come from for this.
Mr. Andrew Heck questioned why the town was looking for a larger machine when the one that they had would work. He asked if the operator had taken the training that was called for to learn how to use the machine.
Mr. Charlie Stephenson also questioned the need for a larger machine and asked where the extra cost would come from.
There was a discussion on the reason the larger machine was proposed and some options on where the additional $4,400 could come from.
Ms. Donna Smith questioned whether the town needed to spend the money on a larger machine for the recycling center.
Day noted that this meeting was called at this time because the town had an option to upgrade to a larger machine and that option was expiring in a few days. She noted that this had been discussed several times at previous meetings. Kullgren said that since he was not in favor of going forward with this the issue would not pass.
Ms. Smith said she was concerned that the agenda and the minutes were not on the website in a timely manner.
Mr. Heck suggested that the town should adopt some regulations prohibiting individuals from taking items from the town’s metal pile at the recycling center.
Ms. Debra Davidson asked that the Selectmen be sure to treat her with respect with regard to her tenure with the town.
Mr. Stephenson asked about the process of moving to a Town Administrator and if this would cost the town more.
Kullgren said that the town is currently getting responses from people who are interested in the position and the Selectmen would be looking for someone who could fill the job for the town.
The meeting adjourned at 7:07 PM
Respectfully Submitted:
Christopher Rose
