Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes
Thursday – January 14, 2010 – 6:00 pm
Present: Chairwoman, Karen Day; Selectman, Jarvis Adams, IV; Selectman, Aaron Kullgren
Minutes: Administrative Assistant, Debra Davidson
Call to order: Chairwoman Day called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm
Appointments:
7:00 – Kelley Beatty – Dark Sky Presentation – Mr. Beatty presented a very informative dark sky presentation. Discussion followed regarding the importance of minimizing light pollution. There was a time for Questions & Answers at the end of the presentation. Selectmen thanked Mr. Beatty for his presentation.
Approval of minutes:
Selectmen approved the minutes of January 7, 2010 as written.
Sign Documents:
Selectmen signed the following documents:
· A/P invoices
· A/P checks
· Engagement Letter to begin the 2009 Audit. The audit is scheduled for the first week in February.
· CDBG Grant letter
Old Business:
2010 budget – Tabled until next week.
Emergency Response Representative Replacement – Davidson reported she has been in touch with Fire Chief, Loren White. Chief White is going to touch base with some folks over the weekend, he will get back in touch with Davidson next week, if there is no interest then this will be placed into the Spirit and on the website.
New business:
Mail - Misc. mail was reviewed
Request for Proposal – Davidson reported she has compiled an RFP for painting the Town Office & Meeting House. It was approved by DPW Supervisor, Kevin McDonald and has been advertised in the paper this week and again next week. It is also on the website.
EECBG – An Intent to submit for Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant application has been submitted. Administrative Assistant, Deb Davidson will be attending a meeting on January 26 in Keene at Antioch to learn more about the process for the completion of these grants.
Rental Update
· 4 Slip Road – The furnace was cleaned recently. Tenants had concerns that the furnace was too loud.
· Apt. #2 Longblock – Door to be fixed, tenant has concerns about the apartment. It was suggested she either move into apartment #4 or relocate elsewhere. She was informed the trash must not be left on the front stoop, if it continues a fine for littering may follow.
· 19 Sawmill Road – The tenant in apartment #3 presented Administrative Assistant with some research regarding a ductless Propane Heater. Discussion followed. Selectman Kullgren motioned to authorize the Administrative Assistant to follow-up with a price from Allen & Mathewson. Seconded by Adams and Day. Voted 3-0. Appropriate quotes are not to exceed $2,100.00.
Petition article – Administrative Assistant, Deb Davidson presented a petition article, which would authorize citizens of the State of NH to determine the definition of marriage. This will be placed on the Warrant for vote in March.
Planning Board update – Selectman Adams updated the Board on recent happenings at the Planning Board level.
Adjournment: With no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm. The next scheduled Selectmen’s Meeting will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 6:00 pm.
