Department of Public Works Supervisor
The Town of Greenfield is accepting applications accompanied by a comprehensive resume, to fill the position of Public Works Supervisor. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, fiscal management, operational administration and in the field support of one or more work crews. The Supervisor is responsible for the Towns Roadways, Buildings, and Town infrastructure. The position requires the researching and formulating of long term goals, writing of a variety of grants, submitting applications for (DES) permitting and knowledge of FEMA procedures pertaining to Public Works.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
This position requires knowledge of modern Public Works practices, equipment, and management techniques. Considerable knowledge of municipal budgeting and administration with the ability to keep accurate records, plan, organize, direct, coordinate, evaluate and oversee activities within the department. Computer skills are a must. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to both groups as well as to residents. Must be able to maintain department training, safety and public educational programs as well as serve effectively on Town committees.
Training and Experience:
This position requires experience in business management preferably in the public works or construction field. Candidate should have 7 years experience with proven accomplishments related to the field as well as 3 years at a supervisory level. Preference given to Master Road Scholars. Other combinations of training and/or experience with the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will be considered.
