Energy Committee Minutes 11/24/08
Town Energy Committee
Minutes of meeting November 24, 2008
7:20 p.m. in kitchen of Town Offices

Members present: Candi, Dan Wolaver

Minutes of November, 2008 meeting were not approved because the members present at that meeting (except for the author of the minutes) weren’t present at this meeting.
Diane will try to get an insulation bid from Sonny Gagnon of Quality Insulation, Nashua.
Diane will contact the Fire Department to see if there is a problem will laying fiberglass insulation on the floor of the (unoccupied) second floor.
Dan reported that 9.5-inch-thick fiberglass insulation (with an R value of 30) costs about $0.50 per square foot.  So the 2200 sq.ft. area upstairs would cost about $1100.
Jarvis Adams stopped in and said a relative may be able to get the fiberglass insulation at wholesale price and deliver it.  Dan will follow up on this.
Dan and Candi went up to the second floor to look at the furniture and determine how it would interfere with laying insulation on the floor.  It should be possible to move everything (except filing cabinets) on top of tables and lay the insulation under the tables.  The filing cabinets themselves will provide a certain amount of insulation if left in place.
Candi said the BOS is looking to save $9000 of the available $20,000 to hire Pinney to convert the steam heating to hot-water heating.  The remaining $11,000 might cover the insulation if we install the fiberglass on the second-floor floor ourselves, and if we hire blow-in insulation for the first-floor walls only.  We need to ask the insulation contractors for bids on that.

Adjourned: 8:02 p.m.

Next meeting: Monday December 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
