Town Energy Committee
Minutes of meeting February 29, 2008
7:05 p.m. in kitchen of Town Offices
Members present: Aaron Harris, Roger Lesard, Dan Wolaver
Minutes of February 14, 2008 meeting: approved
Roger met February 19 with the BOS. He reported that the BOS wants the TEC to get quotes; the
window quotes the BOS got were in the works before the TEC was formed. Roger will ask the BOS
for a copy of Cuddemi’s quote on a heating system for the Town Offices Building.
Dan got the electricity cost for the town street lights for last year: $4255. He has contacted Sue
Blothenburg at PSNH for details on their Municipal Smart Start program. In this plan they buy new
lamps (that use less electricity) for us and pay them off from the savings in the electric bill. That is,
Greenfield won’t see the electric bill go down until after two or three years, when the lamps have been
paid off. Dan will pursue getting these details.
Rodger found the Nickerson-Remick from Portsmouth does foam insulation. Roger will find other
firms that do this and get competing estimates for the Town Offices Building.
Aaron will look into wood chips as an alternative fuel for the Town Offices Building. Dan will look
into visiting the Hancock Conservation Center to see their heating system.
Roger reported that about 65 CFLs were sold to town residents in the TEC-sponsored sale.
Roger has asked Epping whether the TEC could visit their town building March 29 to see their energyefficient
heating system. He hasn’t heard from them. Roger will pursue this.
