The meeting was called to order at 7:33 pm. The following items were addressed:

  • Conrad approved receipts for Woman’s Club for food served at Roadside Roundup.  Check for $224.45 will be sent to Carele Mayer.

  • Roadside Roundup Procedure Check List and post mortem for Roundup Discussion
  • Conrad, Karen, Neal, Janet, and Carol reviewed Karen’s document to produce a final document describing all the steps for running the Roadside Roundup. The final document will contain all the information needed to set up and run the roundup. With additional input from this discussion, Karen’s document is complete to begin using next year.
  • Karen noted that there was confusion about door prizes for adults.  Karen suggested that next year, Commission members meet people at the door at dinner and make sure each adult is given a ticket for the adult door prizes.
  • General observation among Commission members was that not enough was done to raffle off prizes for adults.  Next year the commission will discuss door prizes and decide on prizes and purchase them in a cost effective way. Conrad would like to build the budget with this in mind.
  • In January, commission must reserve the meeting house for the last Saturday in April. Action item: Conrad will email Catherine to automatically reserve meeting house for last Saturday in April.
  • New Members – Report in.
  • At the last meeting Conrad volunteered to contact Stephanie Kokal.  He contacted her by phone and she expressed interest in joining the Commission.  She told Conrad she would contact him when she made a final decision.  Action item: Conrad will follow up with Stephanie.
  • Action item:  Karen will talk to Marlene Paulson about becoming a member.
  • Carol suggested that the organized walk on Ray Cilley’s property planned for September or October may serve as a recruitment tool for attracting new members.  Action item:  Neal will talk to Ray and possibly have him come to next meeting to speak for 15 minutes about this upcoming event.  Conrad would like to get an article about the event in the Spirit for August/September issue.  Deadline for submission is July 1.
  • Update on Status of Forest Management Plans – requested by Janet
  • The Greenfield Select Board never made a decision about awarding the Commission stewardship for the George Proctor property. This question was put before the board but they have not acted on it. Action item: Karen and Janet will go to the Select Board as representatives of the Commission to request the stewardship.
  • Karen said that Ken Paulson noted at a previous board meeting that there is approximately $14,000 in a trust fund associated with the George Proctor property. Janet discussed reviewing old Select Board minutes to better understand Ken Paulson’s points.
  • Conservation Commission’s Forest management plan has laid out goals for harvesting program for property.
