Minutes
June 26, 2013
Attended: Carol Irvin, Chair; Neal Brown, Karen Day
Visitor: Ray Cilley
Meeting began at 7:30 p.m.
· Ray Cilley. Ray would like to join the Commission. Ray recently purchased Steve Robertson’s home and land that includes the conservation easement made possible by the federal Wetlands Reserve Program. As part of the application for the program, the Commission pledged to help support the costs of wetlands remediation work on the land under the easement. Ray indicated that he could have people from American Steel do the removal of plant invasives (bittersweet and buckthorn). No decision was made during the meeting. Ray also noted that he was writing a letter to one of the abutters to this property to make sure this abutter understood the benefits associated with
the easement.
· Recruiting New Members. The Commission discussed how to recruit new people. Ray was attempting to do one-on-one recruiting, but the group also discussed the idea of hosting a canoe trip on the Coontoocook and taking a video of the trip for posting on the town website. No decisions or plans were made during the meeting.
· Position of Town Forester. Ray wanted to know more about the job description for the town forester. Karen reported that she is working with Karla on developing a written job description. Karla reviews all the intents to cut and works on educating landowners who are willing to listen. The commission discussed hosting a program in the fall and Karen volunteered to work with Karla on planning one.
· Reviewed the mail.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
