Conservation Commission Minutes 1/26/11
Town of Greenfield
Conservation Commission Minutes
January 26, 2011

Attending: Roger Lessard, Carol Irvin, Karen Day, Neal Brown

The Conservation Commission received an email from Francie Von Mertens in Peterborough about a project of the ConVal Senior Class for conservation. The discussion centered around cleaning up an area of an easement that is on the Contoocook. Carol will contact the easement holder and Karen will contact the land owner. If this project is accepted, a group of ConVal seniors will do this on April 2nd. The proposal is due February 18th.

The Commission discussed the change in the law of 2008 that requires the Commission to go to town meeting to ask for permission to donate money to “qualified organizations” for the purpose of helping with easements.

The wording would be:

“Shall the town vote to adopt the provisions of RSA 36-A:4-a, I(b) to authorize the conservation commission to expend funds for contributions to ‘qualified organizations’ for the purchase of property interests, or facilitating related thereto, where the property interest is to be held by the by the qualified organization and the town will retain no interest in the property?”

Carol will get this article to Deb.
