Conservation Commission Minutes 7/27/05
Greenfield Conservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
July 27, 2005

Attendees: Neal Brown, Roger Lessard, and Janet Romanelli
Absent: Ray Cilley, Karen Day, Karla Allen and Miriam Lockhart

NOTE: The building was locked and nobody had a key, so we had an informal meeting on the steps of the Town building and notes are sketchy.

New Business

1. Signs for Conservation Properties – We need to decide on exact wording for each sign. Karen saw a sign at the Bennington Fire Dept. and asked Mark Chase where he got it. He told her about Marshall Gale in Antrim who likes to rout signs. This sign is brown with yellow lettering and looks  like the sign that the Commission had envisioned. Mark told Karen that Marshall does this for nothing. Karen has a call in to Marshall to see if he will do it for us. Karen told Dario to hold up on the roofs and purchasing the cedar until we hear from Marshall. No update.

2. Recycling Committee – Update on the activities of the newly formed committee. No update.

3. Aquifer Protection Meeting – Would like to find a date in September to have this meeting. We should set the date and go forward from there. If we set it now, there should be no problem with other boards attending. - a Tuesday in September would be a good bet.

Old Business

4. Update on Lake Host Program - only $210 left to match.

5. Any other business brought forward by members or attendees:
* Janet distributed copies of zoning legislation proposed by other towns in the last election and asked that folks review it with an eye to convincing the board to get some similar items on the ballot next spring.
* Dijit Taylor will be coming to give her “Dollars and Sense” talk on Tuesday evening, October 3rd. Janet has reserved the hall and would welcome suggestions on publicity at the next meeting.

6. Mail of importance - none.

Tabled for now:

1. Website – Conservation page. Please give some thought to what we might write or include for our page on the town website.
