Greenfield Conservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
February 11, 2004
Attendance: Karen Day, Roger Lessard, Dario Carrara, Karla Allen
1. Greg and Karen Martus brought their Wetlands Applications to the commission for our signature. Karen had talked to Sandy Crystal at DES who told her that the applications should be combined rather than separate. This will save the Martus’ money since the applications are $100 each. Karen told Greg and Karen that the Selectmen would probably be more comfortable with having a wetlands scientist inspect each culvert to make sure that the erosion control was in order but that if they would be willing to give the commission a 3 day notice after the erosion control was installed and before the work began, that one of us would go out to look at them to
make sure that they put it in properly. They agreed that that was a good idea since they are new at this. They will come in again with a revised application.
2. Two people have come forward and would like to donate some trees from their property for the town common tree planting project. George Rainer recommended using wild native trees rather than trees purchased in buckets because the wild trees are hardier. We will suggest that we put the notice in the Spirit again so that other property owners will come forward with donations of trees.
3. Dario will produce a paper sign template for the next meeting.
4. May 22nd is the proposed date for the Jerry Adams walk. Karla will call Jerry Adams to let him know and Peter Wensburg to ask if we can walk across his property again.
5. We discussed possible programs for this year:
April - Earth Day (FROG and Learning Tree) (Karla)
May - Jerry Adams easement monitoring and bird watching
June - Ben Killam (Karen)
July - NH Lakes Association (Karen)
August - Stump to Mill (Karla)
