Minutes of Greenfield Conservation Commission
February 19, 2003
Members present: Karla Allen, Karen Day, Roger Lessard, David Voymas. Meeting commenced at 7:05 pm
Minutes of January 15, 2003, meeting were read and approved.
Old Business:
We reviewed last month’s meeting with Jeff Porter of SWRP. He had said he would send maps and photos to the Commission, or tell us where to acquire them. David agreed to follow up with Jeff, and ask exactly what was available and what the fee would be; also if SWRP could assist the Commission in writing the NRI.
NRI: The Commission agreed that we would start with a small portion, and finish that before moving on to other portions. We decided to focus on Land Fragmentation for now. The Commission also agreed we would incorporate much or all of the work done by the ‘94 Commission, and rewrite it for our purposes.
New Business:
The Commission was copied on a letter sent to the BOS and PB re: nominations for representatives to a Contoocook River conservation organization. As no one of the members present was able to devote the additional time to this project, we agreed to put an article in the next Spirit requesting volunteers.
Officers for the coming year: David announced his desire to step down from the position of chairperson. After some discussion, Karen Day agreed to take on the responsibility of chair.
David recounted his recent visit to CMRC to meet with Jim Orr (Quality Assurance) and Don Shumway (President). They are preparing a grant application to turn a portion of their property into a space for Active Living by Design, which would be accessible to town residents. They were solciting the Commission’s approval and support through the project. They also gave David a copy of an NRI prepapred for CMRC by Peak Resorts for the ski area. This information will also be useful in preparing the town’s NRI.
Meeting adjourned at 8:55 pm.
