Trustee of Cemeteries Minutes 05/15/2014

Board of Cemetery Trustees Meeting
Greenfield, NH 03047

DATE: ~Thursday, May 15, 2014   6:00  p.m.
LOCATION: ~~Town Office Building

PRESENT: ~Gil Bliss, Chairman; Members Margaret A. Charig Bliss and Lee LeBlanc; Sexton Merrill Villmore; resident Patricia Donovan

The Board:
1.       DISCUSSED planting small trees to fill in gaps along the 100-foot buffer zone between the Greenvale Cemetery and the town sand/gravel area. Sexton Villmore will survey the area and recommend the number and kind of trees. Noting that he had seen vehicle tracks in the snow during the winter, Mr. Villmore recommended signs along the boundary asking riders not to enter the cemetery on snow vehicles.
2.      AGREED to meet at 1 p.m. May 31 at the Meeting House Cemetery to refresh measurements of the fence. Ms. Donovan reported to the board on a number of preliminary discussions she had with several providers of fencing materials.  In the wake of Town Meeting declining funding for fence replacement, the board will pursue other alternatives to improve the fence, and other ways to fund it. Board members said they hope to be able to do something before the town’s 225th anniversary in 2016.
3.      DISCUSSED repair and restoration of the iron gates at Greenvale Cemetery and will seek expert advice.
4.      ADJOURNED at 7:00 p.m.
