Board of Cemetery Trustees

PRESENT: ~Gil Bliss, Margo Charig Bliss, Jan Moller, Merrill Villmore, sexton
1. The board noted a request for a full-body burial on May 7. Arrangements were made.
2. The board discussed the town plan to remove gravel from the site adjacent to the cemetery. An accord will be entered into with the Board of Selectmen and the Highway Department, establishing a suitable buffer zone and an agreement about activities at the site to maintain sanctity and dignity of the cemetery. The Cemetery Trustees will meet and walk the area on 4/27 weather permitting.
3. The board discussed the recent Town Meeting vote supporting “researching and replacing of the Old Meeting House Cemetery fence” with an eye to beginning a fund-raising project. Trustee Gil Bliss will explore opening a bank account to receive donations. Trustee Jan Moller will explore corporate fund-raising. Trustee Margo Charig Bliss will develop a plan to distribute collection boxes and provide public information (Suggested sites/venues: Harvester Market, the summer music series, Boy Scouts, town ceremonies and events). The board voted to ask the Highway Department to pull out the broken and displaced fence that runs perpendicular to Saw
Mill Road.
4. The Trustees adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
