Board of Cemetery Trustees/Board of Trustees of Trust Funds meeting minutes

DATE: ~March 5, 2013 6:03 p.m.

PRESENT: ~Gil Bliss, Margo Charig Bliss, Jan Moller, Merrill Villmore, sexton; Lee LeBlanc, trustee emeritus.


1.      Trustees met with Mike Borden to discuss the presentation at town meeting concerning Article 17:  replacement of the picket fence surrounding the Old Meeting House Cemetery. Mr. Borden left a couple of pieces of synthetic wood the board hopes to use for a long-lasting replacement. Margo will make the presentation at town meeting, using a color-coded map of the cemetery provided by Merrill Villmore. The board viewed an early version of the map as well as containers to be used for fund-raising.
2.      The Board discussed the upcoming warrant Article 18, which will split the Board of Trustees with the Cemetery Trustees and create a new board, which will be elected at the 2014 town elections. The current cemetery trustees will continue for the next year, following reappointment by selectmen. Due to Gil Bliss being elected moderator, he must resign as a Trustee of the Trust Funds but will continue as a Cemetery Trustee. With this reorganization in mind, Margo Charig Bliss was elected chairman of the Trustees of Trust Funds.
3.      A letter from a Peterborough attorney concerning the Trustees of Trust Funds’ financial interest in Francestown property formerly owned by Doris Belcher, The current owners, descendants of Ms. Belcher, want to modernize the property and clear any encumbrances on the deed, The matter has been turned over the Selectmen, who have referred the matter to Town Counsel. Jan Moller will keep abreast of this topic for the trustees.
4.      The Board discussed repairs needed to the smaller front gate at Greenvale Cemetery, which has come loose from its hinge on one side. Merrill Villmore will examine the gate and make a recommendation once the snow level subsides,
5.      Trustees signed copies of the annual MS-9 financial documents, along with the board’s investment policy and prepared them for mailing to the state Department of Justice and Department of Revenue Administration.
6.      The meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m.
