REPORT OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE GORHAM TOWN COUNCIL
September 1, 2005

Chairman Loveitt opened the meeting at 4:00 pm.

Roll Call  Present:  Chairman Loveitt; Councilors Dugas, Justice, Phinney, & Hamblen; Town Manager, David Cole, and Town Clerk, Christina Silberman
              Absent:  Councilors Robinson and Willett
 
Moved by Councilor Justice, seconded by Councilor Dugas and VOTED to waive the reading the prepared order by the clerk.  5 yeas.

Item #7159      Moved by Councilor Justice, seconded by Councilor Phinney and Ordered that the Town Council of the Town of Gorham, Maine, in Town Council assembled approve the Warrant for the September 12, 2005 Special Referendum Election.

Be It Further Ordered that the Registrar of Voters is in session between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005 and between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2005.

Be It Further Ordered that the Town Clerk be authorized to process absentee ballots at the Central Voting District at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Be It Further Ordered to appoint the following persons as Wardens and Ward Clerks for the September 12, 2005 Special Referendum Election and if any of the following should fail to serve the Town Council hereby gives the Town Clerk authority to appoint substitutes.

Be It Further Ordered that the Town Clerk be authorized to appoint the Ballot Clerks by giving preference to the list of Election Workers accepted at the April 6, 2004 Town Council meeting.  5 yeas.

Chairman Loveitt gave a brief report on repair of the town clock.  He proposes two choices, first to repair the clock so that the hands will turn and keep time properly, second to overhaul and renovate the entire clock, which will be a lengthy and more  costly process.  He will continue to pursue the issue and will report back with further information.

Moved by Councilor Justice, seconded by Councilor Dugas and VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 4:05 pm.  5 yeas.
