REPORT OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
OF THE GORHAM TOWN COUNCIL
November 15, 2005 - 7:00 p.m.
Chairman Loveitt opened the meeting at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call of the 2004-2005 Council: Present: Chairman Loveitt; Councilors Dugas, Justice, Willett, Phinney, Robinson, & Hamblen, Town Manager, David Cole, and Town Clerk, Christina Silberman.
The Town Clerk, Christina Silberman gave the report of the November 8, 2005 Election.
The newly elected Councilors Michael Phinney and Jane Willett were sworn into office.
Roll Call of the 2005-2006 Council: Present: Councilors Loveitt, Dugas, Justice, Willett, Phinney, Robinson, & Hamblen, Town Manager, David Cole, and Town Clerk, Christina Silberman.
Item #7195 Moved by Councilor Justice, seconded by Councilor Loveitt and VOTED that nominations for the Council Chairman cease. 7yeas.
Moved by Councilor Willett, seconded by Councilor Robinson and VOTED to elect Michael Phinney as Chairman of the Gorham Town Council for 2005-2006. 7 yeas.
Newly elected Chairman Phinney then took over the gavel to conduct the remainder of the meeting.
Item #7196 Moved by Councilor Robinson, seconded by Councilor Hamblen and VOTED that nominations for the Council Vice-Chairman cease. 7 yeas.
Moved by Councilor Willett, seconded by Councilor Loveitt and VOTED to elect Norman Justice as Vice-Chairman of the Gorham Town Council for 2005-2006. 7 yeas.
Item #7197 Moved by Councilor Loveitt, seconded by Councilor Dugas and VOTED to appoint members as presented to the following Council Committees:
1. Finance Committee: Jane Willett – Chairman, Calvin Hamblen, & Philip Dugas
2. Ordinance Committee: Norman Justice – Chairman, Burleigh Loveitt, & Matthew Robinson
3. Appointments/Personnel Committee: Philip Dugas – Chairman, Calvin Hamblen, & Burleigh Loveitt
4. 4. Economic Development/Capital Improvements Committee: Matthew Robinson – Chairman, Jane Willett, & Norman Justice
5. Representative to the Greater Portland Council of Governments: Norman Justice
6. Ad Hoc Representative to the Recreation Advisory Board: Matthew Robinson
7. Ad Hoc Representative to the Cable TV Committee: Michael Phinney. 7 yeas.
Item #7198 Moved by Councilor Dugas, seconded by Councilor Justice and ORDERED that the Town Council of the Town of Gorham, Maine, in Town Council assembled adopt by reference the same Council Rules as were adopted for the year 2004-2005 as the Council Rules for 2005-2006. 7 yeas.
Moved by Councilor Justice, seconded by Councilor Dugas and VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 pm. 7 yeas.
