  • Facebook – Tim has set up page and is waiting on the final brochure to add, he also included a link to town page on face book.  Tim will send an invitation for all to join when the brochure is completed and added.
  • Tour Dates are confirmed for 10-26 at 8am, 12pm and 6pm and 10-30 at 10am
  • Georgetown Record –article in this week’s paper and Ellie will try to get another one in for next week
  • Michelle is out of town but has left messages with Colleen regarding meeting with COA
  • Ellie completed PowerPoint’s for tour and everyone agreed all four should be used to run on cable station
  • Mail-drop.  Peter Durkee has town plow routes and George will use those to coordinate mail drop.  Best time is the week before Town Meeting, Tuesday 11/10 and Wednesday 11/11.  Committee should e-mail George if they are interested in helping with mail drop.
  • Back-packs will include SOI Summary Sheet and should get into parent’s hands by Tuesday, 11/9 or Wednesday, 11/10.

  • Review of PR campaign.  E-mail blasts were discussed, but because of privacy laws, e-mails cannot be sent to established lists.  It was suggested that they are sent to friends and forwarded on to others.  The PTA and GEF have also offered to help with getting the message out to the citizens of Georgetown.  Also mentioned was having Scott Jones add it to his Georgetown Fun website.
  • Discussion on how to be best prepared for Town Meeting.  Need to confirm with Beverly what can and cannot be done at Town meeting.  Suggestions include:
  • Document with a break-down of how the short-term bond would work, something that can be handed out at town meeting
  • Table set-up with literature for people to get before meeting as well as a place where questions could be asked and answered before meeting starts
  • PowerPoint presentation with pictures to correlate with each bullet from the SOI Summary sheet
  • Phil explained what happened at BOS Meeting on Monday, October 18th.    The objective of the meeting was to close the warrants for the Town Meeting.  A few of the selectmen had concerns regarding the warrant, because the town meeting is typically only for critical budget issues, (snow and ice removal) which was taken care of at the spring town meeting. They do not see the Penn Brook School Project as a critical budget issue.  The argument is that this is a critical budget issue and it has to be addressed now or we lose the opportunity to get funding from the state.  Phil is confident that it will close on Monday night.  Tillie brought up a back-up plan of a citizen’s petition.
  • Members of SBC continued meeting at the Penn Brook School for a tour.  Carol and Terry led the group through the school and showed the committee the main issues facing the school.  Aging Physical Structure, Lack of Space Issues, Electrical Issues and HVAC/Pluming Issues.

Task List:

  • SBC members to attend BOS Meeting on 10/25/10 at 7pm after our meeting
  • Tim to complete Facebook Page when final brochure is complete and invite SBC members to join
  • Ellie to e-mail Anne from Record and give her tour dates and times
  • Ellie to get all 4 PowerPoint’s to run on cable
  • AJ to work on signs
  • Carol to work with Peter Lucia to get babysitting set-up for Town Meeting
  • Phil to print 2000 copies of SOI Summary Sheet – Ellie to e-mail Phil the final draft
  • AJ to get brochures in Rory O’Connor’s
  • Members will check with other businesses in town to see if we can leave brochures
