Minutes of the Finance and Advisory Board
March 10, 2005

Meeting Called to Order at: 6:30pm
Location: Town Hall –3rd floor meeting room and 2nd floor meeting room

SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Larry Borin presented some issues facing the school department this year.
        Increased mandates of State and Federal level – mandated but not funded.
        Increase of student enrollment
        Every 10 years there is an Accreditation Process that must take place.  Georgetown’s year is next year.

There was discussion in regards to the 21% increase in Health Insurance cost.  

It was presented that the amount of monies available to town departments for FY06, after all fixed costs are backed out, is $623K.  New growth is significantly higher as we worked hard with the Assessors office.

Larry inquired about different revenue amounts and clarification of changes.

The School Committee’s public hearing is scheduled for March 24th.

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Mulligan read a prepared statement and presented his FY06 Budget and the proposed changes to personnel resulting in the increase of budget request up from last year.

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
Jack Moultrie presented the Highway Department budget requests

Motion to take the School, Police and Highway Departments’ budgets under advisement.

Meeting to be scheduled for Thursday 3/16/05 at 7:00pm for further budget review
