Meeting Motions / Actions and Summary of Discussions:
Voters at the Nov. 2 Special Town Meeting approved spending $175,000 from free cash as the first phase of Senior Center building project at Perley School. Colleen is at work with the Georgetown Historical Commission and Town Administrator to apply for $175,000 in Community Preservation money to help fund the remainder of the project. If approved at May’s annual Town Meeting, the CPC money would be available July 1, 2016. Colleen, the Town Administrator, Board of Selectmen and School Department are at work on the Memorandum of Agreement that will allow the portion of the Perley School to be used by the COA as a Senior Center facility. Students from Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School are scheduled to begin the project’s demolition and interior framing work in December. Architect
Bill Sterling will oversee the project. Listing both the remainder of the project and the future need for a replacement van, Board members agreed to recommend the COA’s Capital Improvement Budget. The annual COA Holiday Party will be held Mon. Dec. 7, 1 p.m. at Trestle Way. The COA Friends will fund the food and assist with the party.
