Meeting Motions / Actions and Summary of Discussions:
Two bids for the engineering and design work necessary to remodel classrooms at the Perley School for use as the Senior Center facility were received in July. Based on qualifications, the Town and COA have met with Architect Bill Sterling of Sterling Associates, Cambridge, to consider design options and construction cost estimates needed to remodel the classrooms. Hoping to keep costs at approximately $300,000, an article to fund the costs may be planned for the fall special town meeting. COA Board members reviewed a conceptual plan for the project. Colleen filed state Formula Grant budget for $12,852. She also filed the annual EOEA report. Board members approved the grant application and annual reports. Board member Esther Palardy will provide substitute coverage as the congregate meal site coordinator.
Colleen will attend the Mass. Councils on Aging conference in Sturbridge Oct. 7-9. Crosby’s Marketplace will fund the Men’s Breakfast program again this year. Board received correspondence from Emmaus thanking the doll-making group for the donation of dolls. They also received an invitation for a potluck volunteer appreciation event Sept. 19 at Camp Denison.
