MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, February 24, 2015

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, noon at the First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by Chair Jeannine DesJardins.

Present were: Jean Perley, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Carol Sheehan, Corona Magner, Ann Stewart, Diane Prescott, Claire Maimone, Jeannine DesJardins, Nancy Thompson and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for December 30, 2014 was read and approved.  Board member Corona Magner’s move to accept the report was seconded by board member Ann Stewart.   The scheduled January 27, 2015 meeting was cancelled due to a blizzard.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:  
  • Colleen will present the FY16 budget to the Finance Committee on March 7, 2015. The budget proposal includes increased hours for the outreach worker and administrative assistant positions along with an outline of how areas in the proposed Senior Center at the Perley School would be used as well as projected costs for furnishing those areas. The Board of Selectmen have proposed a special article for the annual town meeting which could provide up to $100,000 to remodel the classrooms for COA purposes (creating office spaces, renovations to the men’s room and installing signs).
New Business:
  • Board members will meet with Colleen in two groups on March 4 and 11 to complete the Ethics Commission Online Training Program for Municipal Employees by April 10, 2015.
  • As the Town’s Emergency Management Director, Police Chief Don Cudmore has established a plan to clear the van of snow following storms.
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for December, January and to-date in February. Colleen reported that Town has received the state Formula Grant as well as a $450 Cultural Council Grant. The reports were approved with a motion by board member Nancy Thompson and seconded by Carol Sheehan.
The Director’s Report:

  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting December and January statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. The report was accepted with a motion by Esther Palardy, seconded by Claire Maimone.

Adjourn: The COA adjourned at 1:15 p.m. with a motion by Nancy Thompson, seconded by Carol Sheehan.
