MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, August 26, 2014

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, noon at First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12 p.m. by Chair Jeannine DesJardins.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Jean Perley, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Jeannine DesJardins, Diane Prescott, Corona Magner and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for June 24, 2014 was read and approved.  Board member Esther Palardy move to accept the report was seconded by board member Claire Maimone.

Correspondence: Board members reviewed an email from Katie Ross of Crosby’s Marketplace, notifying the COA that Crosby’s would support the Men’s Breakfast program this fiscal year with in-kind donations of groceries.  COA Board members thanked Crosby’s for their continued support.

Old Business:  
  • There was no old business to review.
New Business:
  • Colleen has filed the FY15 Formula Grant with the EOEA, seeking a budget of $11,424.  The application was signed by COA Chair Jeannine DesJardins and Town Administrator Michael Farrell.
  • Colleen also field annual reports for FY14 with the EOEA and with the Town.  Board members approved the proposed FY15 Formula Grant budget, FY14 EOEA Annual Report and FY14 Annual Town Report with a motion by Sue Gardiner that was seconded by Corona Magner.
  • The annual MCOA Conference is scheduled Oct. 8-10 in Falmouth.  Colleen and Merrimac COA Director Laura Dillingham-Mailman will present a workshop on building relationships within the community to support COA programs and services.
  • The First Congregational Church will be closed to all COA activities the week of October 20 due to church fair preparations.
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for July and to-date in August. Colleen explained that August’s spending includes an annual dues payment for a Motion Picture License that has been used with programs at the library and church will be well used when a TV/DVD player is purchased for a future facility. The reports were approved with a motion by board member Jeannine DesJardins and seconded by Diane Prescott.
The Director’s Report:

  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting June and July statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. Colleen reported that there has been an increase in participation in the blood pressure clinics as the Elder Brown Bag Program. The past year saw increases in general information calls, wellness and van transportation programs.   The report was accepted with a motion by Esther Palardy, seconded by Diane Prescott.
