MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, June 24, 2014

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, noon at First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Chair Claire Maimone.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Nancy Thompson, Jean Perley, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Jeannine DesJardins, Diane Prescott, Carol Sheehan, Ann Stewart and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for May 27, 2014 was read and approved.  Board member Sue Gardiner move to accept the report was seconded by board member Jeannine DesJardins.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:  
  • The Board of Selectmen has approved reappointments of the following board members to their three year terms: Jeannine DesJardins, Claire Maimone, Chandler Noyes and Corona Magner. Alternate Board members Caroline Sheehan and Ann Stewart have been reappointed to their one year terms.  Board members will be sworn in by Town Clerk after July 1, 2014.
New Business:
  • With a motion by Board member Esther Palardy and a second by board member Diane Prescott, the following slate of officers was approved for FY15: Chair, Jeannine DesJardins; Vice Chair, Claire Maimone; Treasurer Chandler Noyes and Secretary Jean Perley.  The new, or returning, officers will assume their duties in July.
  • Summer schedule:  There will be no board meeting in July.  The COA will meet Tuesday Aug. 26.  Colleen will be on vacation the weeks of June 28 and August 11.   Classes, regular activities and congregate meals will continue as usual.
  • Crosby’s Marketplace has been thanked for their past year of sponsorship and asked if they are willing to continue their sponsorship in the new fiscal year.
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for May and to-date in June. Supplies have been purchased for upcoming programs and activities as well as office supplies.  The deadline for the state’s Formula Grant application is August 12.The reports were approved with a motion by board member Nancy Thompson and seconded by Jeannine DesJardins.
The Director’s Report:

  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting May statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. The report was accepted with a motion by Sue Gardiner, seconded by Carol Sheehan.

Adjourn: The COA adjourned at 12:45 p.m. with a motion by Esther Palardy, seconded by Nanacy Thomspson.
 
Next meeting: Tuesday, August 26, 2014, noon at First Congregational Church.  There will be no meeting in July
