MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, May 27, 2014

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, noon at First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Chair Claire Maimone.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Corona Magner, Jean Perley, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Jeannine DesJardins, Diane Prescott, Carol Sheehan, Chandler Noyes, Ann Stewart and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for April 22, 2014 was read and approved.  Board member Chandler Noyes move to accept the report was seconded by board member Esther Palardy.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:  
  • The proposed COA FY15 budget of $95,280 was approved at the May 5 Annual Town Meeting. The $5,424 additional money in this year’s budget allows an additional 3.5 hours for the Outreach Worker’s position as well as three additional hours for the Administrative Assistant’s position.  
New Business:
  • Board member Esther Palardy of the COA’s Nominating Committee presented the slate of officers for FY15: Chair, Jeannine DesJardins; Vice Chair, Claire Maimone; Treasurer Chandler Noyes and Secretary Jean Perley.  The Nominating Committee’s report was accepted with a motion by Chandler Noyes, seconded by Carol Sheehan. The Slate of Officers will be voted at the June 24 meeting and new, or returning, officers will assume their duties in July.
  • The COA approved recommendations that the following board members be reappointed to their three year terms: Jeannine DesJardins, Claire Maimone, Chandler Noyes and Corona Magner.  The COA also recommended that Alternate Board members Caroline Sheehan and Ann Stewart be reappointed to their one year terms.  Colleen will email the recommendations to the Board of Selectmen who will make the appointments for the new fiscal year.  Once reappointed, the board members must be sworn into office by the Town Clerk after July 1.  The recommendations were approved with a motion by Esther Palardy, seconded by Chandler Noyes.
  • Summer schedule:  There will be no board meeting in July.  The COA will meet Tuesday Aug. 26.  Colleen will be on vacation the weeks of June 28 and August 11.   She will use some vacation time when her granddaughter is born, due date May 31!
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for April and to-date in May. The reports were approved with a motion by board member Esther Palardy and seconded by Jeannine DesJardins.
The Director’s Report:

  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting April statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. The report was accepted with a motion by Chandler Noyes, seconded by Diane Prescott.

Adjourn: The COA adjourned at 1 p.m. with a motion by Chandler Noyes, seconded by Sue Gardiner.
