MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, April 22, 2014

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, noon at First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Chair Claire Maimone.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Corona Magner, Jean Perley, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Jeannine DesJardins, Diane Prescott, Carol Sheehan, Chandler Noyes, Nancy Thompson and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for March 25, 2014 was read and approved.  Board member Chandler Noyes move to accept the report was seconded by board member Esther Palardy.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:  
  • Following the presentation of the proposed FY15 budget of $95,280 to Town Administrator Michael Farrell and the Finance Committee on Saturday Feb. 8, there has been no further questions from the Finance Committee.  In proposing a level service budget, Colleen is seeking 3.5 additional hours for the Outreach Worker’s position as well as three additional hours for the Administrative Assistant’s position.  As part of the town’s annual operating budget, voters will act on the COA budget at the May 5 Annual Town Meeting.
New Business:
  • Board members Diane Prescott and Esther Palardy volunteered to serve as the COA’s Nominating Committee.  They will talk with COA officers to determine if they are willing to continue to serve in their roles.  The Nominating Committee will present the Slate of Officers at the May 27 meeting.  The Slate of Officers will be voted at the June 24 meeting and new, or returning, officers will assume their duties in July.
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for March and to-date in April. The reports were approved with a motion by board member Esther Palardy and seconded by Nancy Thompson.
The Director’s Report:

  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting March statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. The report was accepted with a motion by Chandler Noyes, seconded by Diane Prescott. Colleen explained a six-month pilot program with NEET and Elder Services of Merrimack Valley that would dissolve the ESMV volunteer-based Medical Transportation Program while NEET would become the sole transportation provider for the respective elders. The partnership could allow NEET to strengthen the transportation resource for the 14 partner communities including a potential of additional drivers and support for grant programs.
