MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, November 26, 2013

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, noon at First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Chair Claire Maimone.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Corona Magner, Diane Prescott, Jean Perley, Carol Sheehan, Chandler Noyes, Esther Palardy, Sue Gardiner, Nancy Thompson, and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for October 22, 2013 were read but no action was taken since the agenda had been inadvertently posted for December 17, 2013.  The October 22, 2013 minutes will be considered at the December 17 meeting.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:  
  • The annual flu clinic was successfully held on Wednesday Nov. 6.  A mini flu clinic is scheduled Wednesday Dec. 4.
  • The Friends of the Council on Aging will donate $600 to cover the cost of food for the holiday party scheduled Mon. Dec. 9 at Trestle Way.  Chandler Noyes will provide holiday music. Other board members will assist in the kitchen and provide baked goods.
  • The October NEET Luncheon was successfully held at DiBurros.  A new volunteer has offered to serve as a volunteer driver.
New Business:
  • The AARP Income Tax Preparation Program will be available again this year with a second preparer working as a team with volunteer Carl Much.
The Treasurer’s Report:
Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for October and to-date in November. No action was taken since the agenda had been inadvertently posted for December 17, 2013.  The report will be considered at the December 17 meeting.

The Director’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting September statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. Colleen noted that she has been called for Jury Duty on Wednesday Dec. 4, 2013.
