MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, October 23, 2012

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, noon at the First Congregational Church.  The Board was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by Vice Chair Esther Palardy.

Present were: Claire Maimone, Corona Magner, Cynthia Tardif, Chandler Noyes, Jeannine DesJardins, Nancy Thompson, Esther Palardy, Jean Perley, and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for September 25, 2012 was approved as presented.  Board member Coronna Magner’s move to accept the report was seconded by board member Diane Prescott. The report was unanimously accepted.

Correspondence: There was no correspondence to review.

Old Business:
  • The Halloween/Harvest Birthday will be held Wed. Oct. 31, 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.
  • The COA will hold the annual Holiday Party Monday Dec. 10, 1 p.m. at Trestle way.  Chandler Noyes will provide musical entertainment.  The Country Gardeners will provide centerpieces and a buffet lunch will be served.
  • The COA and Board of Health will hold a Flu Clinic Wednesday Nov. 7, 9:30 -11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.  Seventy doses of flu vaccine are expected.  Board members Jeannine Desjardins, Esther Palardy, Nancy Thompson and Chandler Noyes volunteered to assist with the clinic.

New Business:
  • The December COA meeting date will fall on Christmas Day.  Board members discussed alternate dates, selecting Monday Dec. 17 as the next meeting date.  Following the meeting, additional information clarified a potential scheduling conflict on Dec. 18.  Polled in person and over the phone, board members decided to meet instead on Tuesday Dec. 18, noon at the First Congregational Church.
The Treasurer’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Treasurer’s report explaining the spending in the COA Expense Line and Formula Grant for September and to-date in October.  The report also included payroll information and the amount received in donations for the Council on Aging Gift Account and from participants in the Strength Training and Yoga Classes as well as van participants. Board member Diane Prescott’s move to accept the report was seconded by Board Member Nancy Thompson.  The report was unanimously accepted.
The Director’s Report:
  • Colleen presented the Director’s Report noting September statistics which included General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Screening, Health Education and Classes. Two additional households have been added to the Elder Brown Bag Program which now serves 34 individuals.  Colleen anticipates that the FY 2014 budget will be due to the Board of Selectmen/Town Administrator in December.  Treasurer Chandler Noyes move to accept the report was seconded by Board Member Corona Magner and the report was unanimously accepted.

Adjourn: The COA adjourned at 1 p.m.  Treasurer Chandler Noyes’ move to adjourn was seconded by Board member Corona Magner and the motion was unanimously approved.

Next meeting: Tuesday, November 27, 2012, noon at the First Congregational Church.
