MINUTES OF GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, September 27. 2011

        The board of the Georgetown COA met Tuesday, September 27, 2011. The Board was called to order at 12:06 PM by Chairwoman Claire Maimone.

Present were: Dianne Prescott, Esther Palardy, Claire Maimone, Chandler Noyes, Corona Magna, Barbara Miller, Jean Perley and Director Colleen Ranshaw Fiorello.

Secretary’s Report for Tuesday, August 23, 2011 was accepted as read.

Old Business:
.Outreach position has been filled. Kirsten Klueber was named to the position on Sept. 1/11. She has much experience in Case Management and Social Work.
Annual MCOA Conference is scheduled for Oct. 5-7. Kirsten and Julie will cover the office.
DOT Regional Van Grant was awarded to MVRTA and will include Georgetown, Newbury and Merrimac. Georgetown, Newbury and Merrimac will share ownership and expenses. Lease is $1.00/ year. The Van can accommodate 9-11 people.  The lease has been sent for legal review by the Town Administrator.

New Business:
The COA Annual Christmas Party is being planned. A date will be scheduled with the Housing Authority. The Friends of COA will supply desserts.  Chandler Noyes will provide musical entertainment.
The date for the First Congregational Church fair has been changed from the weekend Oct. 20 to the weekend of October 28.  With the change of date, the Meal site at the Congregational Church will be open the week of Oct. 17-20 with lunch on Mon. and Wed. (The Byfield Church will hold their October lunch on Tues. Oct. 18.). As the church prepares for the fair, the Meal Site will be closed Oct. 24-26. The dates in the Newsletter are incorrect due to the change in the church’s plan.
Harvest Birthday celebration has been changed to Wed. Nov. 2/11.
The October 25/11 COA Board meeting will be held at 12 noon at the Town Hall. Colleen posted the new time schedule in the COA room.
The Cultural Council Grant was applied for to provide entertainment during the year. Colleen also wrote letters of support for grants submitted by Dick Kaplan and Delvena Theater for a “Julia Childs” performance.
HHVNA has offered to provide the Town with vaccine for a Flu Clinic hosted by the COA and Board of Health on Wednesday Nov. 9, 9-11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Colleen.
Money from the state Formula Grant has not yet been received.
Among other expenses, Colleen purchased materials for the Doll-Making group, and used money in the Gift Account to purchase a shredder for Trestle Way and refreshments for the Canine performance.
The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as presented.

The Director’s Report was read and discussed:
Statistics for August 2011 were presented: General Information, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag.; Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Education, Classes.
