MINUTES OF GEORGETOWN COA
TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2011

The Board of Georgetown COA  met Tuesday, August 23, 2011. The Board was called to order at
12:15 p.m. by Chairwoman Claire Maimone.

Present were: Cindy Tardiff, Esther Palardy, Jean Perley, Corona Magna, Chandler Noyes, Dianne Prescott, Barbara Miller, Claire Maimone,  Jeannine DesJardins and Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

Secretary’s Report for Tuesday June 28, 2011 was accepted with the correction that Cindy Tardiff was present for the meeting .

New Business:
  • COA Outreach Worker’s  position- Alice is still on medical leave. The position for 16 hours as needed has been posted and advertised and there are four candidates to be interviewed.
  • Men’s Breakfast sponsor- Crosby’s Marketplace will again sponsor the monthly Men’s Breakfast program for FY12.
  • State Formula Grant- The FY12 Formula Grant and Statement of Authorization was signed and submitted as requested by the state.  The amount of the formula grant has increased to from $6,468 to $8, 925 due to the increase in our Elder population. Categories in the grant budget include stipends for the Meal Site Manager and Site Assistant, Postage for Newsletter bulk mailings, Volunteer recognition, Rent, and Conference/Staff Training.
  • Annual Reports- Colleen passed out copies of the COA’s FY 11 Annual Report to the Board Members. The Annual Capital Improvement Plan again included the need for a new Van and Senior Center.
  • Colleen plans to attend the Annual MCOA Conference scheduled for October 5-7, 2011.
Treasurer’s Report:
  • The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Colleen.
  • The Van has had more mechanical problems. Both batteries were involved so B&B replaced the recently replaced alternator for free. The cost of the batteries was $405.
  • The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as presented.
The Director’s Report was read and discussed:
  • Statistics for June and July 2011 were presented: General Information, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters Mailed, NEET, Congregate Meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Education,, Classes.
