MINUTES GEORGETOWN COA
Tuesday, February 22, 2011

The Board of the Georgetown COA met on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. The meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m. by Chairwoman Claire Maimone.

Present were: Jeannine Desjardins, Esther Palardy, Corona Magner, Claire Maimone, Cynthia Tardif,  Diane Prescott, and Chandler Noyes  and COA Director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello.

The Secretary’s Report for January 25, 2011 was read and accepted.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Colleen.
·       Expenses as of February 22, 2011 were explained by Colleen.
·       With a total of $478, this month’s van repairs include a new tail pipe and two front tires.  The costs will be reflected in next month’s Treasurer’s report.
  • The Report was accepted as presented.
The Director’s Report was read and discussed.
·       Statistics for January were presented: General Information Services, Case Management, Home Visits, Reassurance Calls, Medical Equipment, Newsletters mailed, NEET, Congregate meals, Elder Brown Bag, Van Service, Social Events, Cultural Events, Health Education, Classes.

  • NEET, West Newbury, Jan. 31/11

Discussion/Action:
  • Budget update
  • FY 12 Annual Budget of $80,942 presented by Colleen to Finance Committee Wed. Feb. 16/11
  • Board members Corona Magner, Esther Palardy, Cynthia Tardif and Claire Maimone
  • Selectman Steve Smith has proposed a local options meals tax as a potential source of revenue for future COA budgets
  • The School Building Committee is considering the possibility of a K-6 or Grades 1-6 school at the site of Penn Brook School, which could free space at the Perley School for space dedicated to COA programs and activities
  • BOS meeting to discuss the potential meals tax is tentatively planned for Monday Feb. 28, 7 p.m.  Colleen and some board members will attend the meeting if scheduled.
  • Cultural Council 2011 $425 Grant approved
  • COA needs assessment/survey planned in March
  • First Congregational Church closed week of April 18
  • Regional Health Fair plans underway for September with Merrimac, West Newbury, Groveland, and Amesbury COAs
