Minutes for November 16, 2005. Under Finances Bob stated that Alex indicated that MSU needed money for 2 OT patrols. Minutes should be changed to indicate the patrols were for GCSO, not MSU. Kent Trent motioned and Matt seconded that the minutes be approved with the correction. Motion carried.
New Business:
Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) admitted by the court.
Matt stated that Alex gave testimony on HGN that was admitted by the court allowing it’s use in future DUI cases.
Matt indicated that the courts were most concerned with whether the officer followed the manual and his training.
BAC Zone Cards
Jenna indicated the cards were designed for people to determine their BAC based on number of drinks.
She stated that she would bring the cards to the next meeting for a demonstration.
Bozeman CHAI
Per Jenna, it is on hold and there has been no meeting yet.
Swimming Upstream Awards
Tabled discussion until the January meeting
Jenna will email to members for ideas.
Report on Website Use
Jenna stated that there were many hits on the calendar page.
Bob asked if we can use GRIP news in the website. Jenna said she would check.
Jenna is improving the links and recent news pages.
There is not much use of the Guide to DUI page.
Stephen indicated that Bozeman PD gets lots of requests for DUI related statistics, and possibly the Task Force web page could be used for this purpose also.
Report on Activities:
Media Assessment Project
Jenna – Hope to get more students to do olan next fall to help us get more media "on board" with articles/features related to alcohol and health.
Promotion
Graphics from the DUI Holiday button were sent to the Chronicle to use in the Task Force ad.
5 ads per day through New Years will be ran on The Moose radio station.
KBZK radio will run the Safe Kids, Safe Community add on choosing a designated driver.
Jenna passed around the proposed Task Force newspaper ad for proofing and improvements before submitting to the Chronicle. This ad will be used in conjunction with a full page add on DUI for the holidays.
Budget Update
The balance is approximately $30,000
Mini-grant updates
Bob - Request from GCSO is probably a mistake becaue we have already approved $1,500.
Bob made a motion to table until January the $4,000 request for an in car video system for GCSO. Matt seconded, Motion approved. Bob will meet with GCSO about this issue.
Jenna – Because of the drop in the DUI arrest rate we should be conservative until we know how much money we will have.
Bob passed around additional OT requests that will be considered at the January meeting.
After a holiday pizza and some non-alcoholic apple cider, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM
