Out of Town Task Force Meetings
Bob stated that Manhattan and Three Forks would like to host a meeting of the Task Force twice a year. Both agencies have trouble sending officers to Bozeman for the regular meeting without paying them OT or leaving their departments under-staffed. He also said these meetings whould be held on different nights because of conflicts with the City of Manhattan meeting schedules. Jenna suggested these might need to be extra meetings. No action was taken.
Other Business:
Jenna was invited to testify on Screenings and Brief Interventions in DUI-prevention/reduction at the Impaired Driving Assessment (in Helena). She said it seemed similar to testifying in court with out any feed back.
Wanderlust – The presentation on alcohol in our community organized by Dale Richeson was good but poorly attended.
Jenna - Annual report to state is due in August . She's working to clarify how determine the county DUI conviction rate.
Finances:
Jenna suggested wooden nickels to promote Cat Cab in MSU welcome packets. They would have the Cat Cab phone number on the face, they are cheap, about $300 for 2500. Other alternatives (key chains) are more expensive.
Cat Cab MSU members were not present.
Jenna stated that since we aren’t meeting again until August should we vote now?
Mark made a motion we fund wooden nickel up to $500 for MSU welcome package. Amos seconded. Measure passed, one apposed, felt there were better alternative.
Discussion: It was suggested that we explore other alternatives before spending money for the wooden nickels but the motion had already passed.
Motion by Lt. E.J. Clark, Belgrade PD, that OT Patrols be requested quarterly in dollar amounts rather than hours.
Discussion:
Mark – how many departments will be for this?
Mark – does the budget have a enough flexibility to do this?
Jenna – this would be better done at a quarterly budget meeting.
Amos – can the money be carried if not used?
Bob – Money comes only after the act and is a reimbursement.
Jenna – code needs to be separate for financial purposes
Bob - motioned for dollar amount instead of hourly amount, Amos seconded. Passed, no opposed.
Mini-grant form
Bob will work with Jenna to make more generic to cover more areas.
Single form for law enforcement equipment and OT
Jenna will prepare format for reporting back what money is used for – quarterly reports
Motion by Bob to designate that payments are quarterly with request don month prior. Example: October request made by September meeting. Seconded by Katie. Passed, none opposed.
Grant request from Belgrade PD
One video camera system for use in patrol car for documenting DUIs. $4,000
Katie motion to fund, seconded by Alex. Passed, none opposed.
Other:
Jenna asked what can be done with Bronco vehicle and trailer owned by the task force and used for DUI demonstrations? Presently being stored on county property next to jail. Motion by Bob to talk to Donna at MSU about storing trailer in impound lot and getting rid of Bonco. Amos seconded. He will talk with Donna LaRue.
A going away gift was presented to Mark Daugherty, Citizen Volunteer, for his many years of service with the Gallatin County DUI Task Force. Bob is moving to Virginia.
