Preparation for January 10th ACT meeting in Helena
Prepare for January 17th Law Enforcement roundtable.
Membership:
Alli Gidley has been approved as a Task Force citizen member. Christina Crowe’s application is pending.
Marketing:
Reviewed 3D month budget (attached). Matt suggested that in future ads we not show a photograph of someone who is obviously impaired so the public understands that DUI drivers don’t always look impaired. Discussed additional advertising in the Chronicle. It was decided not to do this.
Discussed Super Bowl advertising and decided not to advertise.
Brian Gootkin from SO and the Detention Center decided he would rather not have “DUI offender” printed on Sheriff’s workforce vests. Jenna said she could not fully explain his position but he was influenced by Shelly Johnson’s concern about the idea. Task Force members asked that Brian attend a meeting and explain his concerns.
Quarterly Law Enforcement Meeting: January 17th, 6:30 PM, Willson School boardroom. The Task Force meeting will take place at the same location, between 5:30 and 6:30 PM.
Montana placed third out of the fifteen deadliest states, states where 41% or more of all traffic fatalities are alcohol-related.
Finances
Jenna reported on finances using a county report showing expenses vs. budget through November 30th 2006.
Overtime Patrols. $5000 in budget.
MHP: late billing for overtime by Cherie Lofton required that the patrols be re-approved in this fiscal year. Susan motioned because it was approved in fiscal 2006. Jenna and Katie met to discuss finances and how to create usable financial reports for each meeting. Matt 2nd. Carried.
NPS: presentation by Brian Smith of mini-grant for the president’s day weekend overtime patrols. $3200 saturation patrol approved. Susan motioned, Cherie 2nd. Motion carried.
BAC cards: Jenna reported on the popularity of the BAC cards. The company serving YNP has asked to use them for their employees. Alli Gidley from ADSGC has volunteered to pass them out before Christmas to health clubs. Jenna would like to have 2000 of each printed: cost about $450. Susan asked that formal budget adjustments be reviewed in January.
Coordinator’s Job Evaluation:
No need for a closed meeting since only Task Force members were present.
Jenna presented on her experience of her job evaluation. Still has to write a rebuttal but has not made that a priority use of her time – the county has said it can be submitted at any time.
The group discussed various systems for evaluation.
Goal is to have a new system in place by the end of March 2007, including a new job description and a new evaluation form that works from the job description. System of quarterly reports could be put in place. Bob motioned to address this at the February meeting. Susan 2nd. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 7 PM. Susan motioned, Bob 2nd.
DUI Task Force December paid media as presented at meeting: Budget $1500
Christmas Chronicle placements
Christmas Stroll Weekend placements, $332 (2 placements)
12-08-06 Belgrade News 140.00 (their stroll)
12-15-06 Chronicle 132.00
12-17-06 Chronicle 220.
12-22-06 Chronicle 132
= $956.
---------------------------------------------
Total $956 – need to bring this down to 900 to 1000, more if you want to run a print ad for New Year’s.
Nutcracker ad, in color – improvement in legibility for text saying that we funded the ad – they can’t do anything about the muddiness of color in the PDF – do you want to continue with the Nutcracker ad or use a different graphic, like the one we voted on at the meeting?
This would continue running our ad in the This Week section, and in the Sunday paper.
We need to let go of one of the weekends in order to meet budget – shall we skip the weekend of the 15th and do the weekend right before Christmas, or hit it harder, earlier, and do the 15th/17th and skip the weekend right before Christmas.
We may be able to bring the cost down by participating in a group DUI-prevention ad again but last year it looked so bad, I think we may be better off placing our ads on our own. The only real advantage of the group ad, is that usually there is a significant reduction in cost.
For New Year’s
Clear Channel Radio for New Year’s: $310. – We could whittle this down to $300 which is what we did last
year. . . see the next page for the details.
Designated Driver pins distributed to taverns in Bozeman’s downtown, and in Belgrade’s downtown, for
their Christmas Strolls: $113.
Total $1379
With Posters: $84.
Total = $1463
