Swimming Upstream Awards
Jenna stated there would be two media awards and we will review the articles for consideration at the April meeting.
There has been no response from the Emergency Room Department.
EJ recommended that the Task Force consider the phlebotomists.
Jenna also suggested we consider instructors for the responsible beverage service classes.
Next year the Task Force will need to take a larger role in funding the awards because GRIP has lost its funding.
Jenna will email the media ads to members for consideration. She is checking on whether other groups will assist in funding the ads.
Interlocks
Charles Kirk of the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club, Health and Safety Committee, passed around a proposed letter for the local judges requesting that Interlocks be used as a means of preventing DUI.
Susan and EJ gave Mr. Kirk some of the pros and cons of using the devices based on their experiences.
2005 DUI arrests
Jenna – Nothing new to report at this time, still working on the issue.
Susan and EJ recommended that comparing calls for service versus DUI arrests might give a picture of why the arrests have decreased.
Rewrite by-laws to include alcohol AND other drugs?
Bob passed around a proposed document describing what the Task Force does.
Susan moved that we accept the document except for a few sections that she must verify that the language complies with the statutes. Bob seconded, approved. However it was later learned that the statute that created DUI Task Forces is specific to alcohol-related DUI only.
Website Use
Jenna passed around a handout on the website usage.
Presentation to CJC
Jenna gave the presentation in conjunction with MADD.
