Swimming Upstream Awards
Award ceremony to be held April 20, 2006

Jenna will contact MHP about one officer who made 73 DUI arrests.  Also it has been traditional through GRIP to award a judge.
Susan – If we award a judge we should look at consistency of sentencing.
Bob – As discussed at the last meeting, we should award the county 911 dispatch staff.
Jenna – We could consider a media award for the best news article
Katie – Would like to see the detention staff awarded as well as ER nurses.
Jenna will check on finances for awards and organize an ad for media.

Newspaper articles
Katie noted that articles are appearing in the Chronicle giving the Task Force credit for overtime patrol money and equipment.  Jenna stated she contacted several agencies reminding them that they are supposed to issue press releases for contributions and assistance from the Task Force.

Membership
Shanda and Stephen have been approved.
Jenna will ask the Commission to advertise for additional new members.
.
The Bronco demonstration vehicle
Daphne said that they would like to use the Bronco for Earth Day.
Jenna stated that she would like to see the task force obtain another vehicle.
No further action taken at this time.

Getting the word out about what we do.
Jenna wants to create a brochure about what the Task Force does.

2005 DUI arrests
Jenna presented a spreadsheet handout that showed a 13% drop county-wide in DUI arrests for 2005.
Susan suggested that court data be compared to dispatch information to see if they correspond.
Alex indicated that SO officers are doing more administrative duties and training with a possible impact on DUI enforcement.
Susan said there are a reduced number of officers in Bozeman, which could have an impact.  Also, the efforts of the Task Force to reduce drinking and driving could be paying off.
Bob stated we should send 3 people to talk to the agencies concerning the stats to get their thoughts on the reduction.
Jenna and Steve are going to work together to meet with the agencies.

March Task Force Meeting
Bob moved that the March Task Force meeting date be changed to March 8.  The meeting will be held in Belgrade, time and location to be announced.  Steve seconded, Approved.

Web site use – Jenna is going to include more items on the calendar page such as awards and MADD information.  She fixed and improved the links portion of the web site.

Budget – Waiting for the quarterly deposits, amounts are down.  OT patrols are $770 over budget, but some agencies have not submitted requests.  We are waiting for the OT logs from some agencies.

Mini-grants
Jenna – There is $2,400 left for law enforcement and $2850 left for community mini-grants left until the end of the fiscal year.
Daphne Collins, representing the MSU Human Rights Task Force, gave a presentation on their mini-grant request for National Youth Service Day on April 22, 2006.  This is an alcohol free event that will be conducting DUI prevention and education demonstrations.

Katie moved that we grant $350 to the Human Rights Task Force for the National Youth Service Day.  Susan seconded, Approved.

Susan moved that the meeting be adjourned, Steve seconded.  Adjourned at 7:00PM
