PROJECTS

5 Alexandria Drive – Tanner – NOI DEP# 159-1046

I have reviewed the application and have prepared the following commentary.

I reviewed the bordering vegetated wetland line on 20 May 2013.  The home owner has submitted a notice of intent for a proposed addition with four footings.  The proposed addition is 18’ x 20’to be located outside the 50 Ft buffer zone of bordering vegetated wetlands.

There is currently an 18’ x 20’ brick patio that will be removed where the proposed addition will be located.  The addition will be located on the existing footprint of the patio to be removed.  The removed patio will be disposed of off - site.

The proposed stockpile area is located just out of the 100 Ft buffer zone line. The stockpile is shown on the plan slightly over the line.  The erosion control shown on the plan is a filter Mitt®, appropriate for this project.

19 Colt Road – Maliff, NOI DEP 159-1048

I visited the site on 30 May 2013 for an inspection.  I asked the home owner to have the contractor install sediment control from the footing, around to the pool toward the shed.  I also asked them to relocate the dirt piles.  As the footings are already installed, and there is no back fill on the wetland side, I asked that a silt fence be staked in along this area.

I revisited the site on 5 June and the dirt pile has been relocated and the sedimentation controls installed.  To date the consultant has not submitted additional information.

The building permit for the deck was issued 5 June 2013 but it has not been picked up as of today.

INFORMATION & DETERMINATIONS

  • Del Carte Fish KillDuring Memorial Day weekend a high school student removed the boards of Dam #4 located off Pleasant Street.  The water drained out and the workers rebuilding the dam discovered the damage on Tuesday morning; at that time the workers replaced and nailed in the boards and let water into the area.  I went out to the site on Tuesday morning and observed 5 great blue herons having a feast.  A locked system will be installed for all the dams to prevent this from happening again.

  • ENFORCEMENT & LEGAL
  • 58 Populatic – Illegal gravel placed in 100 Ft buffer zone without a conservation permit; gravel removed on 22 May 2013. A letter has been submitted from the home owners with a picture of the area before the gravel.  Attached here are 3 photos of gravel placed in area, and 5 photos of the site after the gravel was removed.
  • MINOR BUFFER ZONE ACTIVITIES
1.  7 Shawkemo Path – I have reviewed the application.  The home owner proposes to extend the existing deck located at the kitchen door.  The extended deck will become a three-season room built on a slab on existing grass. Closest corner to BVW is 34 feet; the remainder of the deck will be 60’.

  • Certificate of Compliance
1.  53 Dover Circle – We are waiting for missing recording information that has not been submitted to date.

2.  Lot 3 Cotton Tail Lane - I have reviewed the file and the as-built plan. The project is in compliance. I performed a site visit and the grass is established.  I recommend issuan
